MRCC Torshavn is the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre in the Faroe Islands that works by the standards of IMO and ITU etc. Responsible for coordinating all maritime operations within the Faroese fishery zone. MRCC Torshavn initiates and co-ordinates search and rescue (SAR) on Faroes sea territory under responsibility of the Ministry of Fisheries. Co-operation agreements have been made with different parties such as Atlantic Helicopters, Joint Arctic Command and also with neighbouring countries for co-operation. Other duties are to receive oil pollution reports from Faroese sea territory, patient transportation, receive ISPS reports from ships, and issue Nav Warnings. The centre is manned 24 hrs a day the whole year.
