The ACOPE project is funded by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs Norway from their Arctic 2030 programme for 2018-2019. The project is coordinated by the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre North Norway (JRCC NN). The ACOPE project aims to develop a concept for an Arctic operational emergency agency innovation platform in order to enhance information sharing and communication across the Arctic emergency preparedness and response agencies and other stakeholders. In addition, the main goal of ACOPE is to establish a network of Arctic emergency agencies in Europe and position the network as a preferred partner on Arctic safety and security within the EU Horizon2020 program. In line with this goal, the ACOPE project aims to connect its results and recommendations to the ARCSAR project (Arctic and North Atlantic Security and Emergency Preparedness Network) funded by the EU Horizon2020 programme for 2018-2023.
The ACOPE project has four work packages.
- Work Package 1: Network development and EU HORIZON 2020 positioning
- Work Package 2: Analysis of relevant existing operational emergency agency innovation platforms
- Work Package 3: Mapping critical performance indicators (CPI) for the ACOPE model and design of the ACOPE model
- Work Package 4: Dissemination of project findings and results
The ACOPE project cooperates with key Norwegian and other European stakeholders, including authorities, industry organizations, search and rescue (SAR) organizations and local communities towards improvements in contingency plans for preparedness system development to determine the best common operational platform for competence development and exchange of information. The project partners come from Norway, Finland, Greenland, Faroe Islands, and Iceland.
